School Holidays

The perfect place for a budding paleontologist

Come and visit Vanished World to learn about fossils and geology during the School and Summer Holidays. Located in Duntroon, Vanished World is about 35 minutes’ drive from Oamaru.

Activities will require parent involvement and supervision.

General Activities at Vanished World are included in the admission fee when entering into the Museum.
Dig Room: Come and dig out fossils from local Otekaike Limestone.
Microscopes: View what you find and other items under the microscopes.
Geology: Discover the geology of Waitaki region and do the Rock ID Activity.
