School Holidays

The perfect place for a budding paleontologist

Vanished World offers Activities to young people and parents to learn about fossils and geology during the School and Summer Holidays. Located in Duntroon, Vanished World is some 35 minutes’ drive from Oamaru.

Activities will require parent involvement and to provide transport and supervision.

Our focus will be on “Family Activities” across the younger age groups. (Pre-school, Primary and Intermediate School age children.)
Fossil Laboratory: Come and dig out fossils from local Otekaike Limestone.
Microscopes: View what you find and other items under the microscopes.
Geology: Discover the geology of Waitaki region and ID rocks from our Rock garden.

A financial charge may be necessary to cover materials and volunteer costs.
